The Lincoln High School Alumni Association (LHSAA) was established in April, 1995. In 1993 a group of alumni began work on the 125th anniversary party for Lincoln High. We needed to find as many graduates as possible to invite them to the Mega-reunion celebration. As a result, the group of hard working alumni who spearheaded the festivities decided to use the list of alumni addresses to explore interest in an Alumni Association. Within a year there were over 1,000 paid members.
Our mission is to "establish ongoing alumni interest and financial support for the pursuit of educational excellence at Lincoln High School". Since 1995 we have developed a database listing over 28,000 Lincoln alumni from the first graduating class in 1875 through 2003. We have current addresses for almost 13,000 of these alumni.
Everything we do, including the costs of this website, is funded by the dues we receive from our Alumni Association members plus any donations members wish to send. Some projects the Alumni Association has funded include: purchasing robes for the Lincoln choir, preserving 100 years of Cardinal newspapers on microfilm and CD, providing framed photos of all LHS principals, Rose Festival princesses and queens. We maintain a storage facility for our collection of Lincoln High School archives, which we are currently cataloging. We have provided ongoing support to the Lincoln drama department. We have also donated funds to help maintain the landscaping and have provided alumni work parties to help keep the grounds looking good. We have provide a newsletter to all alumni in the spring and another just for members in the fall. We provide alumni addresses to class reunion committees to assist them in planning reunions.
We need you!!
The Association is non-profit 501(c)(3) and both dues and donations are tax deductible. We need more members! We also need Portland area alumni who would like to serve on the Board or who want to help with specific tasks, such as helping with the website, coordinating reunions, writing newsletter articles, looking for lost alumni, or helping with projects for the school.
